Art has always been a highlight in my life. I can recall painting with my first set of acrylics in the third grade. As a self-taught artist, I work in oils and do pencil sketches. My mother painted in oils and it became a natural medium for me to use. Oils have the rich texture, earthy colors, and blending ability that I prefer to work with. Besides canvas I paint on many different surfaces, including rocks, glass, walls, wood pieces, antlers and tree fungus that I gather along my woodsy travels. I do wildlife, birds, wilderness scenes, and scenery as well as still life, florals, and portraits. I have done many birth paintings (names and dates of births) along with nursery art. I use my own photography as a base for many of my pieces.

I was born in 1955 and Wausau was my first short-lived home. As the daughter of a JC Penney store manager, my homes included Newton and Bettendorf, Iowa and Madison, WI. From the 3rd grade through my Jr. year of high school, we lived in Ely, MN. My parents’ families were both from Ladysmith, WI . Eventually, Ladysmith became my permanent home.

I often have work showing in the Ladysmith Pioneer Bank Gallery area and help with hanging the displays there. I also display work at the Rusk County Community Library Gallery. Three of my paintings have been cover pieces for the Flambeau Reclaimed Mine Site calendars and others were shown in them. As a member of the Rusk Area Arts Alliance, my paintings were included in the 2011 RAAA show in the Wisconsin Arts Board lobby gallery in Madison, WI.

I paint in my rural Ladysmith home, and my work is available at the FAC Gallery in Ladysmith and through personal sale.
