Susan Purkapile

Susan lives in a small town in northern Wisconsin. She has two daughters, two grandchildren, and a collie. Susan grew up with Barbara Ducommun, with whom she still shares a special friendship. Barb is the illustrator of Susan's books, Nosy Noodles and Otto, the Blind Otter. The story of a little bluegill named Gilly was one of her husband Raymond's favorite stories. Eileen L. Ziesler

Eileen has dabbled in writing since childhood. In college she explored poetry and during her 24-year early childhood teaching career she used writing as one means of communication with families. During these years she also enjoyed creating little songs, finger plays, and stories for the children in her class. Jim Kurz

Jim Kurz lives southwest of Ladysmith, WI, on the Flambeau River. He canoed from his home paddling west to Montana and partway back to Wisconsin in 2005. The trip took seven months. In 2008 Jim canoed for four months, paddling north from his home to Ontario, Canada and then back home. Jim met many interesting, helpful people on these trips.
